Embark on an enchanting Hobbit-inspired journey by taking on the renowned and challenging Amathole Hiking Trail in the Eastern Cape. Opt for a two-day staged run or choose from several shorter tracks available.

For the main event, join thirty other adventurous souls to cover 90km of diverse and mesmerizing terrain. Starting from Maden Dam, venture into mystical indigenous forests and captivating Amathole mountains, reaching Cata mountain hut for an evening of camaraderie and relaxation. The following day, continue past breathtaking waterfalls and crystal-clear streams, surrounded by stunning panoramas (and a healthy dose of sweat), until reaching the town of Hogsback.

This experience is a must for those who have conquered other demanding trail marathons, and participation is by qualification only.

On the other hand, the Mountain Marathon, a 42km run, though dubbed the "short" option at this event, offers unparalleled value per kilometer. Featuring a diverse range of terrain and challenges, it fosters a unique connection between runners and the rugged beauty of mountain running.

The 16km and 5km routes, while not flat or easy, are manageable and attract both competitive racers and casual runners alike, all drawn to the enchanting atmosphere of the forest along well-marked trails.
