Voets Toets Hiking completed the Kudu trail. The trail is well-marked and offers hikers a wonderful experience in the African Bushveld. The first kilometre of the walk is flat and takes you over a gentle flowing stream. The next section proceeds into a steep incline up the mountain. It's a climb that requires fitness and some technical ability to keep your footing. Once at the top of the mountain, there are exquisite views of the greater surrounds of the Cradle of Humankind and Hartbeeshoek. The peace and tranquillity of the surroundings were worth the tough climb! The trail takes you along the plateau before leading you back down the mountainside. It's fairly challenging with a rapid descent, so good footing and balance are essential.

We always recommend Merrell hiking boots, and a hiking stick will provide support on the ascent and descent. Ensure sufficient hydration and energy snacks for the challenging climb. Frequent rest breaks came in handy, and a good level of fitness is required. Sunscreen and sun protection are a must.
