The route is well marked and starts and ends at the lapa. The trail is a mixture of African bushveld and open savanna grasslands, taking us through every area of the reserve. Along the way, we encountered a wide variety of antelope and bird species, often stopping to admire the Magaliesberg mountain range in the distance.

The trail is mostly flat, with a few gentle inclines. Our preferred Merrell trail runners were comfortable and handled the terrain with ease. Not much hydration was needed as it was a relaxing hike, but sunscreen and sun protection are always a must.
