We rated this trail as intermediate and hiking experience is recommended due to its technical sections. The route is a steady but steep climb and takes one through lush vegetation and canopies of trees. The route winds its way along the mountain with a 360-metre elevation gain, which takes your breath away! We got to see the cable cars pass above us en route to the top of the majestic Magaliesberg mountain. The view from the top is breathtaking and worth the steep ascent! We had a quick beverage at the restaurant before making our descent back to the Iron Throne. The descent is rocky and requires stability on your feet.

Adequate hydration is needed as we took many water breaks to catch our breath. A hiking stick is recommended to give stability to the rocky descent. Our preferred brand of Merrell hiking boots gave us grip and stability.
