The route is well marked. We started our journey at the bush camp and slowly made our way into the gorge. It's a beautiful sight with what seems like endless trees and beautiful rockery. The route led us into an open space with a large span of rock, which we had to navigate uphill. 

The route to the top of the mountain is challenging, and just as you think you are on top, another climb awaits. The views from the top of Hartebeespoort and surrounds, are breathtaking. The route led us along the mountain ridge, before heading back down the gorge. 

The descent into the gorge is challenging, however ropes are available to help with navigating over the rocks and tricky areas. Once at the bottom, we were met by a beautiful stream that gave us the perfect time for a lunch break. 

The trail led us back through the gorge, where we ended at the bush camp.

Our preferred Merrell shoes gave us the traction and grip needed on this rocky trail. A trekking pole is definitely recommended, as well as a good pair of hand gloves to assist with grip on the rocks and rope.
