Pretoria
Klapperkop Nature Reserve, situated in Pretoria, was our next adventure stop.
There are 4, 5, 8, and 9 km trails on offer
Easy, well-marked trail
Merrell Hiking Boots, hydration, a trekking pole and sunscreen
We completed the 8 km trail, and it was well marked. The route is easy to navigate, though there are a few climbs and rocky areas to keep you on your toes. Vegetation ranges from grasslands to rugged bushveld. We spotted zebras en route and heard the blue wildebeest snort at us from a distance. It's a scenic trail that took us around the reserve with views ranging from lush vegetation to iconic Pretoria landmarks.
Follow The Route
Our preferred Merrell shoes gave us grip and comfort. A hiking stick can also help give you additional support. Sunscreen and adequate hydration are always needed!!
Join Our Hiking ClubThe venue is ideal for mountain biking and trail running in addition to hiking. It provided us with a unique experience, as it has the Fort Klapperkop Museum, which gave us a rich history from the Anglo-Boer War times. The fort was one of four built in Pretoria and completed in 1898. For a day of the great outdoors accompanied by a multitude of historical sights, go give them a visit!
